d. Jul 17, 2025
William "Bill" Robert Williams January 25, 1962 – July 17, 2025
William "Bill" Robert Williams, a proud U.S. Navy veteran, devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and hardworking provider, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, surrounded by his family, at the age of 63.
Born on January 25, 1962, in Chester, Pennsylvania, Bill was the son of Joanne Wilhide (née Doyle) and Frank Williams. He graduated from Chichester High School (PA), Class of 1980. Bill served his country with honor in the United States Navy for four years as an electronic equipment repairman aboard the USS Biddle. During his service, he earned several commendations, including the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Navy Expeditionary Medal, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal—testament to his dedication and excellence in duty.
Following his military service, Bill began a long and successful career with Pepsi Cola, where he worked for 25 years as a lab technician. Known for his precision, work ethic, and reliability, Bill took great pride in his role and was respected and appreciated by all who worked alongside him.
Bill was a loving husband to his wife, Karen. Together, they shared 38 years of marriage—years filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. He was a devoted father to Tara Ware, Sarah Douglass (Evan), and James Williams (Maria), and a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren who brought him endless joy and pride.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Joanne Wilhide; his stepfather, Commander C.R. "Buck" Wilhide; and his stepbrother, Mark Abbott.
He is survived by his father, Frank Williams, and stepmother, Kelly Williams. He is also survived by his step-siblings: Lynne Storer, David Wilhide, Doug Wilhide, Brian Wilhide, Walter Wilhide, Kim Collins, and Kevin Abbott.
Beyond his roles as husband, father, and veteran, Bill was a man of many passions. He had a deep love for music—especially the Grateful Dead—and enjoyed both listening and playing. His home was often filled with the sound of his favorite tunes. Bill also loved dancing, solving puzzles, reading, gardening, and enthusiastically cheering on his beloved Philadelphia sports teams.
He will be remembered for his warm heart, steady presence, sharp wit, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life. His legacy of love, service, and joy endures in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 9, 2025, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the VFW in Aston, Pennsylvania, where family and friends are invited to share memories, music, and fellowship in his honor.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bill's memory to a veterans' organization of your choice.
Fair winds and following seas, Bill. Your watch is complete.
