William (Bill) Shaw Obituary

William (Bill) Shaw, age 85, a long-time resident of Wallingford, PA, passed away on January 15, 2021 at Riddle Hospital after a two-week valiant fight against COVID. Bill was born in Chicago, IL to Roosevelt and Lillie Mae Shaw on April 25, 1935.

He was the oldest surviving child of 12 siblings. He married Versa Hill on August 16, 1957 in Chicago and shared 63 wonderful years of marriage with his best buddy.  Bill was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Marines receiving an honorable discharge. He was avidly involved in the lives of his 6 children. He never missed a game and was an enthusiastic coach for each of his children.

Bill was a voracious reader, lover of art, lifelong learner, a collector of books, and historical artifacts. He instilled a love of learning in his children, the importance of a good education, and challenged them to reach for the stars.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and six of his siblings.  He is survived by wife, Versa Shaw, his sisters Lillian Collier, Claudette White and Hadiyah Al-Sudan and his brothers Melvin Shaw and Shafta Shaw. In addition, leaving a beautiful legacy with his six children William (Brijet) Shaw, Vincent (Berin) Shaw, Vernon Shaw, Victor (Hemina) Shaw, Lainna (DR) Callentine and Torie (Jeff) Cadwell and 17 grandchildren.
