Virginia "Jinan" Butler (née Voorhis), 86, died peacefully at home in Swarthmore, PA on March 1, 2025. The beloved wife of the late William Hills Butler, Virginia was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Born on September 28, 1938 in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of the late Col. Nicholas R. and Virginia (Warren) Voorhis. After years of living around the globe with her parents, Virginia graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School in 1956. As newlyweds, Jinan and Bill settled in Media, PA where they raised their three children. For years, she worked as a Teacher's Assistant with the Delaware County Intermediate Unit. Many may remember her as the smiling face behind the counter at O'Malley's Ice Cream Shop where she served the community for over twenty years.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister Martha Lee Butler, and her brother Nicholas R. Voorhis Jr. She is survived by her children Virginia Bianconi (Thomas) of Aurora, NY, William Hills Butler, Jr. (Kathleen) of Media, and Edward Robert Butler (Leslie) of Swarthmore; her ten loving grandchildren; and nine wonderful great-grandchildren.

Services for Virginia will take place Friday, April 4th. 2025 at Rigby, Harting & Hagan Funeral Home . There will be a visitation hour for family and friends from 10 A.M. - 11 A.M., and her memorial service will begin at 11:00 A.M.  A private burial service will be held at Fort Hill Cemetery in Auburn, NY at a later date.
