Vincent Scafaria, age 89, a resident of Rose Tree Place, passed away on April 29, 2020 from complications of the COVID-19 virus at Riddle  Hospital, in Media, PA.  Vincent was born and raised in Philadelphia to the late Salvatore and Gilda (née Amore) Scafaria.  He resided in Lansdowne for over 40 years and was also a longtime resident of Drexel Hill.

He started out his work life as an accountant at his Dad's firm, Scafaria Brothers. Later he embarked on his own endeavor, along with his sister Grace. They owned and operated The Gift House in Springfield on Baltimore Pike. The store featured unique fine gifts and artisan-designed jewelry. The Gift House grew to four locations in Delaware County. The Gift House locations eventually shut down as shopping trends changed and malls developed. Mr. Scafaria then enjoyed a long career, as an accountant, in the Treasury Department at Conrail. A man of deep faith, Vincent was a parishioner of Saint Andrews Church in Drexel Hill and St. Charles Borromeo Church while living in Lansdowne.  Mr. Scafaria was savvy with investments and was a proud supporter of many charities.  A well-rounded man, he enjoyed sports, music, and art. Vincent treasured time spent with his family, adored the Christmas season, and always found a reason for celebration.

Mr. Scafaria is preceded in death by his sister, Grace Butts.

He is survived by his siblings Joseph Scafaria of West Chester, PA, Livia Imbesi of Media, PA, and Sandra Clarici of Lansdowne, PA along with 15 nieces and nephews, their spouses, and their children.

A private burial for immediate family only, will take place Friday, May 8 at Saints Peter & Paul cemetery, Springfield, PA.

Due to the current public health crisis, a memorial celebration in honor of Mr. Scafaria will be announced at a later date.
