Thomas Earl
Morris
May 14, 1930 — Aug 1, 2023
Thomas Earl Morris, born on May 14, 1930 in Lenni, PA to the late Earl Morris and Pauline Morris has gone to the Lord on August 1, 2023. As a youth in the rural areas of Lenni, Oxford and Glen Riddle, Tom joyfully fished the waters of the Brandywine and cared for horses at Sam Riddle's stables. Full of energy, Tom ran everywhere, from cross country in high school to the way he operated the landmark Esso/Exxon station known as McCafferty's. Starting there at 16 years old, Tom went on to be the owner and manager, building a reputation as the most trusted mechanic around.
Tom married his high school sweetheart Anita and together they enjoyed over 70 years of marriage. He treasured taking his family to Wildwood and then Cape May shore each summer, the latter where he had a home for nearly ten years.
After a hard day of running the station, he could be found on his porch sipping iced tea while rooting for his favorite team, the Phillies.
He served eight years in the Pennsylvania National Guard, wherein he once drove a Jeep up the stairs of the Media Armory. A well-respected businessman, he served as President of the Media Kiwanis Club and sponsored baseball teams in the Media Little League.
Tom enjoyed fishing, especially with a group of friends known as Knobby's Raiders who were known to haul in quite a few stripers from the Delaware Bay. He also enjoyed over 60 years monthly 'card club' get togethers with his four best friends from high school.
He is survived by his wife Anita, his daughters Regina West (Carl), Diana Armstrong (Paul), his brother Wayne and his sisters Mary Rogers and Ruth Sharp, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Though Tom may have been small in height, he stood tall, with a firm handshake and an unbreakable integrity. His examples of honoring his wife, fathering his children and grandchildren, doing a job well, and being reputable business owner will be long in our memory.
Tom's funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, August 7th at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Media. There will be a visitation in the church beginning at 10 am. Burial will follow mass at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Visitation Monastery Box 432 Tyringham, MA 01264 or the John Paul II Medical Research Institute 2500 Crosspark Rd Suite W230 Coralville, IA 52241.
