Theresa
Durkin
Apr 30, 1936 — Oct 30, 2023
Theresa A. Durkin, 87, of Phoenixville, PA, peacefully passed away on October 30, 2023. She was born on April
30, 1936, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Agnes and Pasquale Pizza. Theresa was the loving mother of Teresa
Durkin, Loretta Toms, Denise Durkin, and the late Richard Durkin. She was also a beloved sister to Mary Ward,
brother Pat Pizza and late sister Patricia Pizza and Millie Rosmini.
Theresa was a woman of warmth and generosity, known for her outgoing nature and loving spirit. Raised in a
close-knit Italian family, she cherished the bonds she shared with her grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles and
cousins. Theresa had a passion for creating joyous moments, particularly through her culinary talents. Cooking
with family and friends brought her immense joy, and she delighted in preparing festive meals for all holidays
and events.
She also had a deep appreciation for the arts. She found solace in music and dance, and her skilled hands were
always busy with arts and crafts, gardening, flower arranging, decorative arts, sewing and wreath making. Her
creativity knew no bounds, and she left behind countless beautiful creations as testaments to her talent.
She had a heart for people in need; and offered her time and talents by volunteering at soup kitchens.
Likewise, she was a good friend and neighbor often bringing people hot meals or anything that she knew they
needed.
Theresa will be deeply missed by her surviving family members, including her siblings, her daughters, son-in law
Ed Buffman, granddaughter Sydney Buffman and spouse Eric Reckwerdt, granddaughter Hayley Buffman and
spouse Alex Osborn, granddaughter Elizabeth Toms Hood and spouse Michael Hood, grandson David Toms,
grandson Tyler Bickel, and great-grandson Jaxon Toms and extended family and friends.
A private service is planned to honor and celebrate Theresa's life. The Rigby Harting Hagan funeral home in
Media, PA, is aiding the family with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that
donations be made in Theresa's name to the Alzheimer's Association - https://www.alz.org. Your support will
help continue her legacy of compassion and generosity.
We bid farewell to Theresa A. Durkin, grateful for the love she shared and the joy she brought into our lives.
May she rest in eternal peace. She will always be remembered for her infectious personality, generosity, and
love for her family. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
