Obituary

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Theodor A. Heidt, age 79, a resident of Wallingford, PA and formerly of Swarthmore, PA. Ted passed away peacefully at Riddle Hospital on November 28, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Cynthia Heidt and the devoted father of Susanna and Rosanna.

Born on June 13, 1946 to Irene and Theodor Heidt, Ted was named for his father. Raised in Connecticut, Ted attained his B.S. in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute of Massachusetts where he was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity.  He joined the US Navy and served in the Civil Engineer Corps with Seabees with advancement to the rank of Lieutenant. He was assigned to a Naval Mobile Construction Battalion and was deployed to Roosevelt Roads in Puerto Rico and Diego Garcia Naval Base in the Indian Ocean.

After the Navy, Ted studied at Carnegie Mellon University and was awarded a masters in industrial administration.  He enjoyed a career in finance, retiring from the Corporate Controlship of Air Products and Chemicals. He became a stay-at-home dad, a role he embraced.  Both of his daughters followed in his footsteps; the oldest becoming a Naval officer, and the youngest a mechanical engineer and graduate of WPI, Ted's alma mater.

Ted volunteered as a Blue and Gold Officer for the Naval Academy and as a US Soccer Federation referee.  He was known for his sports cars before graduating to a family vehicle. Ted was a lover of travel and an accomplished skier.  He skied all over the US, Canada and Europe and traveled throughout Europe, Israel, Japan and China along with all of the Amtrak routes in the US.  He took great pride in his homes and thoroughly enjoyed his hobby of renovating and restoring them.

Theodor is predeceased by his parents, Irene and Theodor Heidt, as well as his step-father, Gordon Toth.  In addition to his wife and daughters, Theodor is survived by three siblings and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a loving in-law family.
