Obituary

Steven "Steve" Dorst died suddenly on September 6, 2023. Steve was born on February 4, 1961, in Bay Shore, New York, where his parents and brother lived in until 1976 when they moved to South Jersey. He attended Washington Township High School and graduated from Drexel University, with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and completed the General Electric Financial Management Program.  During Steve's time at Drexel, his friends introduced him to the love of his life, Cindy Sucher.

Steve started his successful career at General Electric with various financial and operational assignments of increasing responsibility.  He became an expert in mergers and acquisitions by his integrity and the ability to provide accurate and reliable company information.  Most recently Steve was Chief Financial Officer at GoodWest Industries which brought his family back to the Philadelphia area.

During his career, Steve and Cindy moved many times between Boston; Mexico City; San Juan; Pensacola; Dallas; Hartford; Houston; Northampton, and finally back to the Philadelphia area.

Steve was a loving and devoted husband and a loyal friend. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, loved playing the "Ponies", was a prolific handicapper and especially enjoyed his annual trips to Saratoga.  Steve also appreciated fine dining, exceptional wines, and good bourbon.

Steve was predeceased by his father Arthur, his mother Renee (Katz), and his in-laws Joe & Nancy Sucher, his brother-in-law Stephen Sucher, niece Olivia Sucher, and his cousin Bernie Moran.  He is survived by his loving, devoted, and adoring wife of 35 years, Cindy (Sucher), brother Artie (Christine), niece Michelle Weston (Matt), his aunt and uncle Edith and Lee Stewart, and cousin Dawn Stewart. Along with in-laws, Denise Sucher (Bill); Joseph Sucher (Diana), Thomas Sucher (Lisa), Michele Sucher, Nancy Sucher, John Sucher (Deana), Joni Ruffini (Dave), and Donald Sucher (Alyssa).  His nephews, nieces, grandnieces & grandnephews who called Steve "Uncle Dorsty" Diana Pierce (Matt), Mackenna & Mason Pierce, John Sucher, Jr., Joe Sucher II, Sam Sucher (Erica), Laney & SJ Sucher, Stephanie Roach (Bill), Frankie & Billy Roach, Austin Sucher, Devin Sucher, Kali Winkler, Kellye Sucher, DJ Sucher, and Stephen Sucher, David Ruffini and Maddy Ruffini and his many friends and co-workers.

Friends and family are invited to visitation hours at the Rigby Harting & Hagan Funeral Home, located at 15 E 4th St, Media, PA, from 09:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 6, 2023.
