Obituary

Steven Joseph Albany, 73, of Honeybrook, PA , surrounded by love ones, passed away peacefully at his home on December 20, 2022.

Steve, affectionately known as W.T., was born on September 25, 1949. Steve grew up on Centennial Ave in Media, and childhood friendships from those days remain to this day. It was here as a young boy that Steve found his love of sports. Whether playing pickup football in the side yard or listening to games, sports was a passion. Steve graduated from Penncrest High school in 1967. He then went on to serve in the Navy and was stationed in the Demilitarized Zone in Vietnam.

Steve worked as Manager at the Albany Vargues family restaurant businesses including the former Sproul Tavern In Springfield, Pa and  Archway Inn Restaurant in Earleville, Maryland.  In the 1990s Steve became a popular Realtor in Chester County. Steve was highlighted by the Philadelphia Inquirer in an article for his creative approaches to Real Estate. Steve's final employer was Penn Health Systems where he worked until his retirement in 2014.

Steve loved all Philadelphia sports. Whether it is the Eagles, Phillies, Sixers or Flyers, Steve was a fan. Steve also was a collector of board games and was famous for hosting family and friends for game nights. He also loved to hike and spent most available moments hiking at every park he could find. He never left without his walking stick.

Steve possessed a wonderful dry sense of humor. He could always make people laugh. Steve always thought the best of people. He was a true and supportive friend to many. Steve loved his cats and opened his home to many a kitty in need. They brought him much joy.

Steve met the love of his life, Pamela Albany in 1977 on a blind date. Married 4 years later, early married life was spent in Folsom, Pa. Later in 1997 the couple moved to Honeybrook, Pa.

He is survived by spouse, Pamela Vaughn Albany, sister Norma Brittingham, brother Gary Albany, sister Wendy Bowditch and brother Michael Albany. Steve is predeceased by his parents,  Norman Albany and Jane Albany Vargues and Stepfather, Frank Vargues.

A celebration of Steve's life will be held at the Rigby Harting & Hagan Funeral Home on Sunday, January 8, 2023. There will be a visitation from 12-1 pm. The service will begin at 1 pm.
