Shirley Walton Blidan, cherished wife of the late Ernest Thomas Blidan for almost 65 years, died peacefully November 15, 2021 at Lima Estates, Media, in the company of her daughter and a niece and in the presence of Jesus. A long-time resident of King of Prussia, she had moved to Media with her husband in 2010. Born in Philadelphia on May 7, 1926, Shirley was the daughter of Kathryn (Goring) and Wilbert Vernon Walton. She was a graduate of West Philadelphia High School and worked for many years at the Budd Company in Bridgeport and Phoenixville. Shirley was a charter member (1955) of Valley Forge Presbyterian Church and was also involved with Media Presbyterian Church.

Shirley volunteered with Habitat for Humanity both locally and in North Carolina and also with Meals On Wheels. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, car rides, and informal get-togethers with family and friends. She was generous and unassuming, donating blood and money and time with very little fanfare. She faced the tragic early deaths of two of her children with quiet courage.

Shirley is survived by her daughter Christine Claire Blidan of Media, PA. She was predeceased by her son Thomas Vernon Blidan; her daughter Nancy B. Checket; her husband Ernest Blidan; her son-in-law Charles E. Haag; and her sister Verna Claire McShane. In addition to her daughter, she is survived by beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family starts at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 4 at the Media Presbyterian Church, 30 E. Baltimore Avenue, Media, PA 19063. A memorial worship service will follow at 11:00 AM at the church. Burial afterwards at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, King of Prussia.

In lieu of flowers, the family would be pleased with memorial donations to benefit the aides and other hourly employees who truly embodied loving-kindness to Shirley over the years.
