Samuel B. Parsons Sr.
Sam Parsons, age 87, of Media, PA, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2024. He was born on August 7, 1937, in Allentown, PA, to Howard "Hap" and Mary Elizabeth Parsons. Sam was the devoted husband of Priscilla "Pat" Parsons for nearly 60 years. He was a loving father to Beth Fisher (Earl), Debbie Parsons (Alec Helner), and Sam Parsons Jr. Sam was also a proud grandfather to Jennifer Brockway (David), Earl Fisher Jr., Fawn Bunch, Cori Fisher-Shields (Steve), and Samuel "Brad" Fisher (Olivia). He will be deeply missed by his extended family, friends, and neighbors.
Sam grew up in Allentown and graduated from Penn State University. He briefly worked as a broadcaster in Indiana, PA, before returning to marry Pat and work at the Allentown Chamber of Commerce. In the early 1970s, the family moved to Media, PA, where Sam worked at the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce. Sam was an avid fan of Philly sports, trivia, billiards, and especially music and the arts. He acted in community theaters in Allentown and Swarthmore and was an accomplished trombone player. He regularly performed with the Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra, Chester County Concert Band, and the 22 Park Avenue Band.
Sam was also a dedicated member of the Swarthmore United Methodist Church, spending many hours in fellowship there. Above all, Sam will be remembered for his unwavering support of his family and friends, his sense of humor and kind heart.
An uplifting celebration of Sam's life will be held on Saturday, November 9th, at Swarthmore United Methodist Church, located at 129 Park Avenue, Swarthmore, PA 19081. Family and friends are invited to gather from 1 to 2 PM, with a service at 2 PM, followed by a reception at the church.
Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, to Swarthmore United Methodist Church ( Donate/Give - SWARTHMORE UMC ) or The Brad Shoener Memorial Fund ( udfoundation.org ) would be greatly appreciated.
