Sally
Kampmeyer
d. Mar 19, 2025
Sally Kampmeyer, 82, lifelong resident of Springfield, died peacefully at home with family at her side. A graduate of Springfield High School (class of 1960) and West Chester State Teacher's College (class of 1963), Sally Stalker married the love of her life, John Kampmeyer, and they cherished almost 62 years together. In addition to raising their children, teaching and traveling, Sally found time to put her energy and commitment to their church, St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Springfield, PA.
Sally was a mainstay at St. Matt's, where she was active in serving the congregation – including literally from her own kitchen. From casseroles to cookies and cakes, there were few events that didn't benefit from her delicious baking and culinary skills. In addition, she chaired the Worship and Music Committee, was a member of LCW (Lutheran Church Women), taught Vacation Bible School and served on the Hospitality Committee. Along with her husband, John, they were youth group leaders and shared the ups and downs of married life as part of the Marriage Encounter program.
For 15 years the E.T. Richardson Middle School in Springfield gained value from her teaching skills as a permanent substitute. Sally enjoyed her many years there, retiring in 1992.
Sally and John cherished family above all. On their 45th wedding anniversary, they started taking the whole family on trips, first to Disneyworld, then through the years on cruises to the Mediterranean and Baltic Countries. Their last anniversary trip was in 2023 where the family celebrated in Alaska.
In addition to celebrating with their whole family, John and Sally also enjoyed trips by themselves to Alaska, Great Britain, Panama, Caribbean, Bermuda, Australia and Germany.
Surviving Sally are her husband John Kampmeyer, her children Karen (Rob) Kampmeyer-Mannix, John (Jeanne) Kampmeyer, Jr., brother, John (Cynthia) Stalker; sister, Margaret Nigro, 5 grandchildren, Ben, John, Noah, Evelyn and Anna and 2 great-grandchildren, Saga and Maisie.
The Kampmeyer family would like to thank the supportive team at Home Helpers and Acts Signature Hospice who helped Sally and her family during these past 2 weeks. Their constant care and kindness is appreciated by all.
