S. Jonathan Emerson, age 93, formerly of Hershey's Mill in West Chester, PA and Swarthmore, PA, passed away at White Horse Village on August 7, 2022. He was preceded in death in 2015 by his wife of 62 years, Virginia Emerson (nee Beabes).

Born to the late Mary (nee Randall) and Sterling Emerson, Jonathan spent his childhood years in Altadena, CA. He served in the US Army and is a Korean War Veteran. Mr. Emerson obtained his degree in Economics from the University of California, Berkley, and graduated from University of Michigan Law School in 1957. Upon accepting an offer from Montgomery McCracken Walker & Rhoads, Jonathan and Virginia moved to the Philadelphia area eventually settling in Swarthmore.  After nearly 45 years with the firm, Mr. Emerson retired and practiced law on his own for another 15 years.

Jonathan loved playing tennis, gardening and traveling.  He enjoyed ice cream and treasured time spent with family and friends.

He is survived by his children Margaret of Philadelphia, PA, Henry of Media, PA, and Peter (Amy) of Indianaoplis, IN, along with his granddaughter, Morgan.

Mr. Emerson's memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, November 5th at the Auditorium at White Horse Village, 535 Gradyville Rd, Newtown Square, PA 19073. His service will begin at 11:00 am followed by refreshments.
