Robert Alan
Hyde
Jul 13, 1952 — Feb 4, 2023
Robert ("Bob") Alan Hyde, 70, passed away on February 4, 2023 in Philadelphia, PA surrounded by his family. He was born in Elizabeth, NJ in 1952 to the late Robert and Jean (Forrest) Hyde.
He grew up in Edison, NJ. After graduating from John P. Stevens H.S. in 1970, he enrolled at Duke University where he graduated in 1974 with a B.S.E. in Civil Engineering. He then enrolled at The University of Michigan where he earned an M.S.E. in Civil & Environmental Engineering in 1975. While working as an engineer at Camp Dresser & McKee (New York City, NY), he enrolled at Seton Hall University School of Law where he graduated with a J.D. degree in 1991. He then worked as a partner at Norris McLaughlin & Marcus (Bridgewater, NJ) for 12 years before joining Reckitt Benckiser LLC (Parsippany, NJ) as Senior Counsel-Patents until he retired in 2017.
Upon retirement, he and his wife moved from Flemington, NJ to Charlottesville, VA, where he enjoyed golfing, reading, teaching classes at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at the University of Virginia, visiting local wineries and historic sites, and spending time with his family.
Bob will always be remembered for his genuine kindness, vibrant sense of humor, and bright spirit. His loving personality and smile could light up the darkest of rooms. He was many things to many people - husband, brother, father, grandfather, coach, teacher, and friend. He made such a special and profound impact on so many, and will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Josette; son, Justin N. Hyde and his wife, Jocelyne; daughter, Katherine V. Ioannidis and her husband, Mark; brother, James F. Hyde; sister, Susan L. Hyde; and grandson, Luke R. Ioannidis.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, or
