Richard Stanton Oakey III, 79, of Upper Providence, PA, passed away peacefully at home on February 3, 2021.  Surrounded by his wife Joy (nee Wilson) of 44 years, sons Richard C. Oakey, John W. Oakey, daughter-in-law Sheetal Sehgal and granddaughter Luna, he undoubtedly heard them recounting stories and memories, sharing laughter and tears before he passed gently during the night.

Dick was devoted to his family and his profession as a licensed clinical social worker, working for over 30 years in behavioral health at Crozer Chester Medical Center and Community Hospital in Chester.  Volunteering as a firefighter most of his life, he served most recently at Rose Tree Fire Company #1.

He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and a founding season ticket holder of the Philadelphia Union.  Many remember his enthusiasm at his sons' sporting events.

A genuine, unpretentious man, Dick will be profoundly missed by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife, children and granddaughter, Dick is survived by his five siblings Sara Weil of West Palm Beach, FL, Carol Perry of Wenonah, NJ, Jane Eppehimer of Prospect Park, PA, Robert Oakey of Mantua, NJ, and Jeanette Oakey of Parkside, PA.

Services will be private for the family.
