Obituary

Richard D. Goodman, age 91, a longtime resident of Aston, PA, died peacefully on September 18, 2025.

Richard was born at Chester Hospital to the late Mabel (Pennington) and Carl Goodman.  He spent his childhood years in Essington before moving to Aston where he would reside for his entire adult life. Richard was the beloved husband of the late Betty (Goodman).  They were married for 65 years before Betty preceded him in death in 2020. Together, they created a legacy that included three children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Richard worked for over 36 years with Ahrens Lumber Yard as a mill worker.  He later worked at OLA Convent as a truck receiver and helped in the dish room and kitchen for 16 years. He was an accomplished hunter and outdoorsman. Richard also loved fishing and gardening.  He was a fan of all Philadelphia sports and especially loved the Eagles and Phillies.  Above all, he treasured time spent with family and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his daughter, Rhonda Goodman; and his grandson, Jeffrey Vincent Palita.

He is survived by daughters Journa Goodman (the late Ken) of Aston, PA and Jensine Palita (Jim) of Oxford, PA; grandchildren James Palita and Matthew Palita; and great-grandchildren Jesse, Ben, Isabella, Sydney, Arianna, Meghan, and Elijah. He is also survived by siblings Kenny Goodman of Wilmington, Shirley Matthews of Wilmington, and Jack Goodman of Conway, South Carolina.
