Obituary

Raymond "Ray" Shisler, 85, of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home on June 4, 2026, with his children by his side.

Born on July 23, 1940, in Springfield, Pennsylvania, Ray grew up in Chester Heights and graduated from Media High School. He proudly served in the Army Reserves.

Ray began his career working for Hank Smedley as an excavator operator, helping to build numerous golf courses, including Cinnamon Hill Golf Course in Jamaica. During his time in Jamaica, he developed a love for scuba diving and spearfishing.

After returning to the United States, Ray worked for Page Excavating until his retirement. He was also dedicated to his community, coaching baseball and football for the Brandywine Youth Club and positively impacting the lives of many young athletes.

In his free time, Ray enjoyed muzzleloader making, beekeeping, trapping, fishing, hunting, and gardening. He spent many summers in Vermont, tending his vegetable gardens and orchard. Vermont was his "happy place," where he found great joy and contentment in the simple routine of caring for his land and completing his daily chores.

Ray will be remembered for his strong work ethic, love of the outdoors, and devotion to his family.

He is survived by his three children, Jennifer Lynne Robinson, Gregory Raymond Shisler, and Laura Beth Shisler; his granddaughter, Eliza Ray Robinson; and his great-granddaughter, Hayden Lee Readinger.

He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
