Obituary

Peter "Pete" Roe, devoted family man, was called to Heaven February 17 at the age of 93. Married to the absolute love of his life, Betty (nee Elizabeth Lynch) for 71 years full of joy, laughter, and tom-foolery. Aside from Pete's loving wife Betty, he is survived by his 5 grateful children: Elise (John) Sutton, Peter (Julianne) Roe, Renee (John) Welde, Patrice (Tony) Scalpato, and Michelle (Bill) Fleming. Affectionately called "The Legend," he is the proud "Pop Pop" of 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

We celebrate Pete – a man of faith, hope, and love! From MBS parish in West Philadelphia to Sacred Heart in Havertown, and on the way to Cape May, Pete lived a life full of honor, laughter, and service. From horseshoes on the beach, to Budweisers on the balcony, he made the West Catholic Class of 1948 proud! A Korean war veteran, Pete was an active member of the Catholic War Veterans Post 731. He was a member of the greatest generation – a man with a tremendous work ethic who always gave more than he took. Pete will be sorely missed by all the lives he touched with his engaging spirit.

Relatives and friends are invited to services on Friday, February 23, 2024. Viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 105 Wilson Avenue, Havertown, PA 19083. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon. Flowers or donations can be sent directly to Sacred Heart Church.
