Norma Lash Goff, 94

Norma Lash Goff died May 12, 2021 at Riddle Village. She had been a resident there since 1998. She and her husband had lived in Upper Providence for 20 years.

Born and raised on a farm near West Newton, PA, she was the oldest child of Ruth Nicholls and Walter Lash. She was a 1944 graduate of Sewickley Township High School in Western PA. At Penn State where she majored in Dietetics and Institutional Administration, she was elected to Omicron Nu, the national honor society for home economics. In 1947 she had the honor of attending Merrill- Palmer Institute in Detroit to study Child Development and Family Relationships for a semester. She belonged to Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and Nittany Lion Club. Penn State Pioneers inducted her in 1998 in recognition of her 50-year alumni affiliation.

First employment was as a Pennsylvania Public School Lunch and Nutrition Advisor in Harrisburg. In 1952 she relocated to Delaware County to serve as Director of Food Services at Ridley School District. It was from there that she retired in 1979. She belonged to the American Dietetic Association as a registered dietician. She was a member of the PA Association of School Business Officials and the School Food Service Association and became their state president in 1960. She served on the food service craft committee for the Delaware County Vocational- Technical Schools at the time of their inception.

Mrs. Goff was a member of the board of Delaware County Family and Community Services for several years. Other affiliations included the Springhaven Club where she actively participated in their bridge program and women's golf. She scored a hole-in-one but at Lancaster Country Club.

As a member of Wallingford Presbyterian Church, she was ordained as a deacon and was active with Presbyterian Women of Wallingford.

She was the widow of R. Wayne Goff who died in 2002. She was the sister of the late Robert Lash and Joan Bush.

Survivors: Sisters Marian Greenawalt of Union, KY; Nancy Freiermuth of Hackettstown, NJ; brother Wayne Lash of Greensburg, PA; 9 nieces, 4 nephews, 5 step-grandchildren, several step-great-grandchildren, and companion Don Solenberger

Norma loved bringing people together- whether through seafood feasts or an intimate gathering, she will be remembered for her gracious thoughtfulness.

Burial: Chester Rural Cemetery

Memorial Service: Tuesday, June 1st, at the Rigby Harting & Hagan Funeral Home, 15 E. Fourth St., Media, PA 19063.  Visitation from 11 am-12 pm.  The service will begin at 12 pm.
