Obituary

Nancy A. Baillie, 92, of Media, PA, died peacefully on July 12, 2022 at Monticello House in Media, PA, with her husband by her side.

Born to Hadley B. and Katharine L. (Kase) Pennock in Brookhaven, PA on May 14, 1930, Nancy Anne Pennock grew up with her younger brother, Hadley Jr., in several Pennsylvania towns including Sunbury and Shamokin, before her family settled in Cheyney, Delaware County, PA during World War II. Nancy graduated from West Chester High School, West Chester, PA in 1948 and worked for several years as a secretary for the Wind Turbine Corporation in West Chester. She married Craig Baillie of Chester, PA on August 2, 1952 enjoying almost 70 years of marriage and life together. They were blessed with eight children raising them in their home on Mattson Road, Concord Township, Delaware County, PA. After 62 wonderful years in that home, she and her husband moved into Sunrise of Granite Run in Media in August 2019.

Nancy devoted her life to her family, raising her children and caring for extended family as needed in and out of her home--an aunt for a summer, her mother and father for a short time, and her in-laws for several years.  After that season in her life, she enjoyed traveling with her husband as well as gardening at home, visiting with friends and sharing short vacations with her brother and sister-in-law. Her hands were always busy, either sewing or knitting, for family, friends and charity. She was almost always available to babysit her grandchildren!

Nancy was a member of Stonybank Community Church, Glen Mills, PA for years often teaching children in Sunday School and summertime Vacation Bible School as well as singing alto in the church choir. More recently she attended First Baptist Church of Ogden in Upper Chichester, PA. Many were blessed by her greeting card ministry as she remembered their special days or tough times with a card or short note. She cared about others even when she wasn't feeling well herself. Some of the staff at Sunrise even called her Mom!

Above all, Nancy was a strong Christian, believing in Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord, and confident of her eternal destination in Heaven with Him. This faith permeated her life and she is now rejoicing in the presence of Jesus. Among her favorite Bible verses was Proverbs 3:5-6 which says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths."

Nancy is survived by her beloved husband, Craig Baillie, of Media, PA, and her eight children, Nancy (Daniel) Strong of Manchester, NH, Craig Jr. (Nancy M.) of Thompsontown, PA, William (Sharon) of Coatesville, PA, John (Margaret) of East Fallowfield, PA, James (Sandra) of Garnet Valley, PA, Katharine (Paul) Wills of Coatesville, PA, Mark (Katherine) of Cherry Hill, NJ, and Stephen (Tammy) of Garnet Valley, PA.  Her 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren will miss her. Her brother, Hadley B. Pennock, Jr., of Rising Sun, MD, and two nephews and a niece also survive her. Nancy was predeceased by her parents and her brother's wife, Patricia.
