Murvin Lackey former chair of Philabundance, age 77, a resident of Newtown Square PA, passed away at Pennsylvania Hospital June 26, 2019 after a long illness. He is survived by his beloved wife  Donna Cochran, 3 children, Michele of Minneapolis MN, Murvin of Birmingham AL and Myrna of Abilene, TX, 2 stepchildren, Kristi D'Amore (Paul) of Ridley Park, PA and Stephen Cochran (Erin) of Garnet Valley, PA,  6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by 2 sisters Evelyn Nelson and Helen Williams of Lincoln Heights, OH and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lackey had over thirty years of experience in global procurement, materials management and logistics holding key executive positions at Fortune 100 companies including Glaxo Smith Kline, Amoco and Digital Equipment Corporation. Most recently before retiring in 2015, he held the position of Senior Advisor at PRWT Services in Philadelphia ensuring integration between business development and operations.

Mr. Lackey was a veteran of the Air Force having been stationed at the Pentagon and Andrews Air Force Base. He earned his MBA from the University of Denver and graduated from the General Electric. He also completed executive programs at Insead University, France and the University of Cincinnati.

Murvin joined the Board of Philabundance in 2010. His commitment to ending hunger by using his purchasing acumen and logistics helped expand their reach to under-served communities. He was dedicated to improving the human condition. In 2012 he became Vice Chair of Philabundance and in 2014 became Chairman until 2017.

He was an avid golfer and previously belonged to the Ace Club in Lafayette Hill, PA.

Services will be held on July 2, 2019 at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Communion, 2110 Chestnut St, Philadelphia. Calling hours are from 10am to 11am. The service will be at 11am.
