Michael D.
Cannon, Sr.
d. Dec 23, 2020
On Wednesday, December 23rd 2020, Michael D. Cannon Sr., beloved husband and father was called home to God following a courageous fight against cancer.
Born in Darby Pennsylvania in 1946, Michael is the second youngest of six born to Ruth and Giles J. Cannon. Graduating from St. James Academy in 1964, Michael started a 55+ year career in construction. Learning the trades alongside his brothers at his father's brick company, Michael went on to start his own business building homes and commercial spaces across Delaware County.
Upon call, Michael bravely served his country in the United States Army. During his service, he received a number of accommodations, including the National Defense Service Medal.
Michael filled his 74 years of life with enthusiasm and humor. Starting young Michael chased a passion for driving, graduating from go karts to drag racing Corvettes and Camaros, all culminating in a 1st place win at the NHRA Gator Nationals in 1981. He passed this passion for racing onto his children, with the family spending many years travelling the BMX circuit, gathering countless stories and friends along the way.
Still, Michael's greatest passion in life is his family, his best memories are spending summers in Brigantine together. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Ann, his 9 children, Sandra Cannon, Bobbie Doris (Michael) Almassy, Michael D. Cannon Jr., Kelly (Alan) Rosh, Christopher Cannon, James (Shannon) Cannon, Patrick (Kathleen) Cannon, Kimberly (Samuel) Giacomucci, and Alyssa (David) Yori, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers, sister, nieces and nephews.
