Obituary

Mary Ann McGarrigle passed away peacefully in Newark, Delaware on October 20, 2025.

Born on January 9, 1945, to Julia and Charles Federal in Philadelphia, PA, Mary Ann grew up in Philadelphia and Drexel Hill, PA. She graduated from Moore College of Art in 1966 and worked in advertising design until she stayed home to raise her two children.

Mary Ann married John McGarrigle on November 15, 1975, and resided in Media, PA for most of her life.

An artist at heart, Mary Ann, was always a dreamer with a creative knack for sewing, painting, antiquing, and photography. And on any day, she could be found with a cup of tea, crossword puzzle, and a bowl of ice cream.

An avid traveler, Mary Ann loved an adventure and traveled all over the US and to Europe numerous times, particularly to Italy to visit her Italian family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends and being "Nana" to her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, John McGarrigle, and brothers Thomas and Charles Federal.

Mary Ann is survived by her son, Sean (Jennifer) McGarrigle, daughter Jennifer Flegel, grandchildren Julia and Jackson Flegel, Aiden and Liam McGarrigle, her sister Julie (Greg) Cooke, and many other family and friends.
