Marilyn
Lemmerman
Jun 27, 1947 — Jan 29, 2023
Marilyn Lemmerman of Media, Pennsylvania passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023 with her family by her side. Her life was guided by her deep faith and love for her family, a devotion she shared with her loving husband, David, and instilled in her seven children, Patrick (Denise) McGrath, John (Emilie) McGrath, Amy (Jeff) Thayer, Georgette Minnick (Marc Minnick), Leah (Abdi) Russi, Margaret (Joe) Demetrius, and Joe (Alex) Lemmerman. Marilyn was a loving grandmother to 18 grandchildren including her newest grandson, Theo, born January 25, and 2 great-grandchildren (with two more expected this summer).
Marilyn was born in 1947 in Albany, NY to Joseph and Mary Jane Stauch. She was the oldest of six siblings; Joe, Kathy, Carol, Jimmy and Jayne. She attended high school at the Vincentian Institute (Albany, NY) and received a bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Russell Sage College (Troy, NY).
In 1978, Marilyn met David, through the matchmaking of her future mother-in-law, Mildred (Nanny) Lemmerman. The following summer, they were married and moved to an abandoned house in Media. There they restored a beautiful home while also building a foundation of love that would grow throughout the next 43 years of marriage.
Marilyn loved gardening, art, music and sewing. She was a member of the choir at Our Lady of Angels convent in Aston, PA and a member of the St. Mary Magdalen bible study group. Throughout her life, Marilyn volunteered for many organizations including Art Goes to School, the annual Academy of Notre Dame art show, RCIA and the Nativity BVM HOPE program - providing rides and support to parishioners in need.
Marilyn was diagnosed with Polycythemia Vera over 30 years ago and later with Myelofibrosis. For the last several years she has suffered greatly but endured it with grace and gratitude for the many blessings in her life.
Above all, Marilyn's life was rooted in her deep faith in a loving and merciful God. Before she passed, Marilyn shared these words with her children, "You all, your spouses and children, have made my life worth every minute. Dave has been a gift to me, but each of you have made me feel like I can give my life back to God as a gift. You are such wonderful people. It has been a joyful life with you."
A viewing will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Media, PA at 9:30am on Saturday, February 4 with mass to follow at 11:30am. A private burial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Equal Justice Initiative ( https://eji.org/ ), World Central Kitchen ( https://wck.org/ ), and The American Red Cross ( https://www.redcross.org/ ).
