Margrit Ilse Karin Kress was born in Berlin in 1937 and passed away peacefully on 20 Feb 2021 under hospice care at Lima Estates. She was the loving wife to our father Rene' for over 50 years and mother to their 3 lovely children, Michael, Stephen and Michele. She was a hard working mother and we had the blessing of her being home to look after us every day after school. She was very proud of in-laws Kim, Melinda and Dennis and her grandchildren Ryan and Ethan Kress, Daniel and Nicholas Kress, Kelly and Kevin Morris. She also leaves behind her sister Ursula Mortell and her son, Margrit's only nephew Helmut Springer as well as her forever best friend Joyce McKee whose friendship spanned almost 60 years which gave her joy every day.

She was always happy around water, a keen fisher while growing up, and later was quite good at windsurfing. She loved summers in the Adirondacks. She taught many people to play the guitar during her years of home lessons and also joyfully crocheted "Prayer shawls" for well over 900 thankful recipients through Reformation Lutheran Church in Media.

Her early life during WWII from 3-8 years old, and her long trip back home after the war ended was detailed in the Lima Estates newsletter over 3 articles. This was an epic journey through war torn Europe walking over 530 km / 330 miles with her mother and grandmother from Pribor, Czechoslovakia to Berlin. She was quite an athletic teenager entering tournament dancing (Tourniertanz) and achieved the challenging German Lifeguard certificate (Rettungsschwimmer) before immigrating to America when she was 22.

Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Margrit's life on Saturday, May 7th, 3:00 PM at Reformation Lutheran Church, 102 W. Rose Tree Road, Media, PA.
