Obituary

Margaretta May Curry Weaver (Peg), formerly of Swarthmore PA died peacefully October 15, 2023.  She was a resident of White Horse Village in Newtown Square for the last 22 years.

Peg was born August 11, 1925 in Philadelphia to Robert M. Curry and Sara Craig Curry. Peg and her brother Robert grew up in Haverford and attended Haverford High School.  Peg attended Gettysburg College where she met her husband Quentin C Weaver (Red). They were married in 1948.  Peg and Red moved to Swarthmore where they raised their 4 children.  Swarthmore was their home for over 40 years.

Peg lived a long and fulfilled life dedicated to her family, children, friends and community. She was a devoted member of the Swarthmore Presbyterian Church as was her husband Red. Peg served on the Board of Directors of the Swarthmore Recreation Association while her children attended Swarthmore Schools. Peg was an active member of Swarthmore PEO Chapter P for 55 years.

Peg was a skilled seamstress and craftsperson. Her artistry is reflected in the many needlework and quilt projects she completed and gifted to her children and friends. Peg donated many of her works to charitable causes to be used for fundraising.

Peg and Red Weaver's home would often be filled with their children's friends who were looking for a friendly visit. Peg always made time to offer her ear, and a kind word to those who stopped by. There was always a fresh baked cake or cookies ready for all. The Weaver home was often referred to as "our second home".

Peg is survived by daughter Marcia Baehr and husband Rick, daughter Melinda Weaver and husband Steve Kreider, son Craig Weaver and wife Darci, son Ted Weaver; grandchildren Matt Baehr and wife Liz, Sarah Baehr and husband Daniel Vanderwarker, Danell Weaver and husband Tommy Wynn, Michael Weaver and wife Alex, Christopher Weaver and wife Yasmin,  Madeline Weaver, Damion Vencak and 8 great-grandchildren.

Peg was predeceased by her loving husband Red who passed away in 2016.

A family celebration of Peg's life is pending.
