Lucy
Desmond
Mar 4, 1938 — Jun 4, 2022
Lucy Desmond, born on March 4, 1938 to late Nicola and Esther DiNardo, a tailor and a seamstress, in Philadelphia, PA. Lucy was immersed in the Catholic community that would be her lifelong support from an early age. Lucy loved being around and helping others. She was a graduate of Clifton Heights High School. She was a secretary at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital, spent time being a home healthcare worker and also worked at Meritor Mortgage Company. One of Lucy's favorite things to do was volunteer at Saint Andrews and Saint Andrews rectory, where she coached basketball and softball. Lucy also was a part of the adopted mothers club. As Lucy would say, she loved to "knit, sketch, and cause trouble", she would always leave you with a joke or two.
Lucy was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her late husband, Thomas Desmond, October 14th 1961 in Drexel Hill, PA. Lucy and Thomas, with their huge, open hearts, adopted three children and raised them with love, humility and grace. Their greatest family memory was visiting Sea Isle City every summer.
Lucy was an angel at heart. She was kind, generous, silly, and always had a positive attitude and she will be missed dearly by loved ones.
Lucy is survived by her children; daughter, Vicki Desmond (son Gregory Brown), daughter, Mary and her husband Joseph Jansen, along with her grandsons Joshua DiNardo and Justin DiNardo (wife Morgan DiNardo), and son Michael Desmond (grand daughter Sabrina Desmond), and sisters-in-law, Cass Pittelli and Patricia Crowley. She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Desmond, and siblings Ernest DiNardo, Henrietta Neudecker, and Rosemary DiNardo.
Lucy's funeral service will be Friday, June 10th at the Rigby Harting & Hagan Funeral Home at 11 am. There will be a visitation from 10-11 am. Burial will follow at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
