Obituary

Lisa Duffey, 56, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on the morning of May 24th, 2021. Born on April 9th, 1965, Lisa lived in Upper Providence, PA during her childhood. Amidst a volatile home, she quickly learned her lifelong qualities of independence, selflessness, and humor. After graduating from Penncrest High School in 1983, Lisa moved away, living in Southern California, West Philadelphia and the Dallas, TX area. During her time in Texas, she met her life long best friend Lora Bartlett and brought her child Sam to life. Shortly after the birth of her son, Lisa and Lora picked up roots and moved back to Delaware County, where she became the linchpin to her extended family. She bought a house in Parkside, PA with Lora and Sam, their dog Bubba and cats Teddy and Sherlock. In recent years, alongside full-time work, Lisa earned an Associates degree (Phi Beta Kappa) and was studying for a Bachelors in Accounting from West Chester University. Despite her long list of accomplishments and life experiences, Lisa will be best remembered as a consummate caregiver and an extraordinary single mother; her life as a mother brought her the greatest joy and fulfillment. She also had a genius sense of humor, simultaneously whimsical and dark, pointed and brash, and could make you laugh until you cried with just a look. An extraordinary woman with a profound impact on everyone around her, Lisa will be deeply missed.

Lisa is predeceased by her father James and mother Betty, and survived by her son Samuel, best friend Lora Bartlett, and siblings Patricia, Sharon, Michael, and Stacy.

A memorial service will be held at the Media Friends' Meeting on June 5th, 10AM ( 125 W 3rd St, Media, PA, 19063 ). In lieu of flowers, please donate in Lisa's name to Providence Animal Center or an organization assisting single parents.
