Obituary

Linda F. Murphy, age 72, passed away on June 1, 2026.

Daughter of the late Millie (nee McCracken) and Francis Murphy, Linda grew up in Middletown Township where she was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church. She graduated from Penncrest High School in 1971 and Villanova University in 1975 where she studied nursing. Linda later obtained her Master of Emergency, Burns & Trauma from Widener University.

Linda was dedicated to her career in nursing. She worked for many years with Crozer Chester Medical Center as an ER nurse and served as the Director of ER Nursing at Lancaster Hospital. Linda settled in the West Chester area where she lived and worked for the past 30 years, retiring from Hewlett Packard/Aligent.

Linda adored her family and friends and was a lover of animals, especially dogs and horses. She had a love for life that was second to none. She was known for her style, often dressed in her favorite color purple, and was a master of coordinating jewelry and accessories. She was very crafty and became renowned for her handmade customized bows. She maintained an active lifestyle and was especially fond of skiing and gardening.

Linda was predeceased by her mother Mildred in 2007 and her father, Francis, in 2013. She was also preceded in death by her fiancé, Cpl. Paul Almer (PA State Police) in 1989.

Linda is survived by her cousin, Shirley Hoops and her nieces and nephews, Stephen (Dale) Hoops and Jaimie (Dwight Nichols) Hoops. She is also survived by her good friend Barbara Belvilacqua (nee Zuk); great-nieces and nephews Kae, Joshua, Zachary, and Abigail Hoops. Linda leaves behind several loving friends from high school, college and her professional career.

Linda’s funeral service will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026 at Rigby Harting & Hagan Funeral Home. Visitation from 10:30 -12 pm.
