Obituary

Linda Leathers Black, aged 93, a former longtime resident of Springfield, Delaware County, PA, died April 5, 2025 at Granite Farms Estates. Born in Pittsburgh, raised in Brookville, PA she attended Penn State University and was a graduate of Stephens College in Missouri. Descended from early settlers in the new land, her family arrived on our shores by way of the Mayflower. A member of the D.A.R., she married Edward J. Black, a career Air Force officer and spent years moving from base to base in support of our country. Upon his retirement, they settled in Springfield, she worked in the fine china dept. at Lit Brothers Dept Store in Lawrence Park. Linda attended the First Presbyterian Church in Springfield, enjoyed doing needlepoint and was a member of the Sweet Adelines singing group. Shortly after her husband's death in 2007, Linda moved to Granite Farms Estates, a continuing care community in Lima, PA.

Survivors include her son, Edward JOHN (Chris Boedec) Black, Jr; her daughter, Mary "BETH" (Robert) DiMaio; five Grandchildren, David Black, Melissa (Jason) Meiser and Daniel (Kelsey) Black, and Robert DiMaio and Angela DiMaio (Paul) Stickles; eight Great-Grandchildren; Sofia DiMaio, Vincent Stickles, Julia Meiser, Greta Meiser, Evan Meiser, Elliott Black, Benjamin Black, and Caroline Black.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, April 26th at Granite Farms Estates in Lima, PA.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the "Samaritan Fund", Granite Farms Estates, 1343 W. Baltimore Pike, Media, PA 19063.
