Laurel M. Schubert, 72, died on April 7, 2023 at Riddle Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Casper Schubert and Helena Shenkle Schubert, and the sister of the late Paul Robert Schubert. For many years the family resided on Dickinson Ave. in Swarthmore.

Laurel's grandmother lived across the street and helped her become skilled at sewing. Laurel also took piano lessons and developed a passion for painting. Her mother instilled in her an appreciation of art and fashion. Laurel graduated from Swarthmore High School in 1969, then attended Drexel University. She moved to California and Albuquerque, before returning to the Philadelphia area. Over the years, she enjoyed working in fabric stores and restaurants.

When she moved back to Swarthmore, her favorite place was Renato's on Park Ave., an informal, friendly pizza parlor.

For the last 6 years, Laurel has resided at Fair Acres nursing home. She used a wheelchair for mobility; her mind remained sharp. She enjoyed reading her Bible, socializing at the Fair Acres' café, and watching religious programs on television.

Laurel is survived by cousins and friends.

A graveside service will be held at Media Cemetery on Wednesday, June 28th at 1:30 pm.
