Obituary

Kathryn Carl

February 23, 1931- February 14, 2024

Kathryn (nee Enderle) Carl of Edgmont, PA died peacefully on February 14, 2024, at the age of 92. Born and raised in Clifton Heights, she was a graduate of Clifton Heights High School, where she played right-wing position in the undefeated field hockey team of '49. Kathryn and Robert Carl wed in 1953 and moved into their Riddlewood home in Lima, PA. There, they raised three children; Stewart, Walter, and Janet, for the next 22 years. A devoted wife and mother, Kass loved spending time with family, gift-giving, adopting shelter animals, hosting parties, and being outdoors. She especially adored horses and was an accomplished equestrian. Kass and Robert moved into their beloved home in Edgemont, PA in 1976. They loved to travel and sail, spending most of their "empty-nester" time together boating on the Chesapeake Bay. Kathryn was a former auxiliary Coast Guard member and a life-long member of Calvary Episcopal Church in Rockdale. Her love of the outdoors kept her boating well into her mid-80s. Kass' zest for life inspired us all. We will miss her greatly.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Robert Carl; her sister, Florence West; her son, Walter H. Carl; and her beloved dog, Cappy. Kass is survived by her children, Janet Baldo of Chadds Ford, PA; Stewart Carl of Palo Alto, CA; grandchildren, Ryan Carl (Laura Carl) of Waterford, NY; Katie Swierczek (Timothy Swierczek) of Media, PA; Emma Baldo of Media, PA; great grandchildren, Timothy and Cora Swierczek of Media, PA; Ivy Carl of Waterford, NY; and niece, Deborah Norsworthy of Allentown, PA.

The family requests that donations in her memory be made to Ryerss Farm for Aged Equine in lieu of flowers. www.ryerssfarm.org/how-to-help .
