Obituary

We are sad to announce the death of beloved mother and grandmother, Kathlyne "Kate" Krull Birdsall (nee Sellers) age 96 of Media Pennsylvania on February 9, 2026, at Riddle Village.  Kate was born in Daylesford, Pennsylvania on November 13, 1929.  She is predeceased by her three older brothers, Coleman "Jim" Sellers V, Frank Sellers, and William "Bill" Sellers.  Her brother Jim, a graduate of the Navel Academy, went missing in WWII when Kate was 9 years old.

Kate attended Agnes Irwin School then Sacred Heart Academy where she graduated High School in 1948. Kate enjoyed and excelled in many sports in her youth including lacrosse, field hockey, tennis and squash.  Kate graduated from Manhattanville College in 1952, where she met many lifelong friends.  She then worked as a legal secretary until her marriage in 1958.  As a young adult Kate continued competitive squash winning many championships.

Kate married her husband Charles "Charlie" Krull in 1958 in Ardmore, Pennsylvania.  By 1965, Kate and Charley had 7 children: Alice, Chuck, John, Mark, Peter, David and Michael. Kate and Charley first lived in Overbrook, then Merion, and by 1965 moved to Wynnewood Pennsylvania where they raised their family.

Kate was active in her Catholic faith as a member of St. Colman Church participating in the choir and becoming a eucharistic minister.

Kate continued her love of sports by playing tennis until her mid-80's.  She was also an avid sports fan, especially the NFL Dallas Cowboys and the college football team of the Naval Academy.

Kate was a past member of the Cynwyd Club and the Brant Beach Yacht Club.  She loved going to the shore, sailing, and going to the beach.

Kate had worked hard to get the best help for her 2 disabled sons, Chuck and Peter, and was so happy when both settled into the Lynch Homes.

Her husband Charlie died unexpectedly in 1977.  She was married to her second husband Robert "Bob" Birdsall from 1980 until his death in 1993.  Kate and Bob lived in Horsham, which was close to the homes of her sons, Chuck and Peter. In Horsham, Kate remained active in the Catholic church, art classes and tennis.

In her 80's, Kate moved to Media, Pennsylvania.  She continued to travel, enjoy playing tennis and spending time with her 7 grandchildren.  Kate is predeceased by her 2 sons, Chuck Krull who died in January 2009, and Peter Krull who died in October of 2014.

Kate is survived by her children Alice Krull, John Krull (Yukari), Mark Krull (Mary Thompson), David Krull (Deborah) and Michael Krull (Mary); and her seven grandchildren: Rebecca VanVuren (Mitchell), Megan Lian, Hannah Lian, Lydia DePaul (Andrew), Heidi Krull, Alexander Krull, and Anna Krull.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday February 14, 2026, at Nativity BVM, 30 East Franklin Street, Media Pennsylvania 19063, 9:30 to 11:00 AM visitation, and 11:00 AM mass followed by a reception at the Springhaven Club, 600 S Providence Road, Wallingford, Pennsylvania, 19086.

Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 Cheltenham Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 92150 will be private on Monday, February 16, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Autism Research Institute ( https://autism.org/ ) or the American Cancer Society ( https://www.cancer.org/donate ) would be preferred.
