Obituary

Kathleen (Kathy) Weaver

Kathleen Weaver (Kathy), of Springfield, PA, died peacefully surrounded by her family on November 11,
2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Kathy was a strong, intelligent, generous, determined, and selfless woman. Born on May 16, 1961, in Glenolden, PA to James and Ruth (Jenkins) Daniels, she graduated from Interboro High School, where she achieved numerous academic awards, was the editor of a school newspaper and participated in band where she met her husband, George. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from the University of Florida.

She was married in 1983 to her soulmate, George, and resided in Springfield for the last 32 years. They were blessed to adopt Amy Joy and Benjamin, the children they always needed and God's perfect answer to their prayers.

In her profession role as a legal assistant, she worked for The Beasley Firm, Fromhold, Jaffe, and Adams, and more recently for Riley, Riper, Hollin, and Colagreco, for the last 18 years. She was a tireless worker and a loyal coworker.

Kathy was a fierce advocate for individuals with special needs and their families. She was a living example the John Lewis quote, "Never, ever, be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble." She began a Delaware County autism group, as well as Springfield HOPES, another autism support group. She was the co-founder and secretary of PACAS, state-wide group advocating for
programs for people with autism across the state. She was a board member of the Autism Society Member of America, Philadelphia chapter, as well as the Delaware County Right to Education Task Force, and later the Delaware County BHRS Parent Advisory Board. She was the co-chair and a primary author on the Autism Task Force waiver subcommittee. She was a board member for Help Patrick Feed
the Babies. She served as a member of the Medical Assistance Advisory Committee-Consumer subcommittee for DHS. She advocated courageously for her child and other people's children.

Kathy was skilled at crocheting, cooking, baking, scrapbooking and hosting family events. She was a talented writer and had several published pieces. She was an avid reader and enjoyed music, especially listening to her son perform, as well as Broadway musicals. Kathy was always thinking about and caring for others. She spent her life generously and lovingly pouring into other people's lives. She loved her
family and her friends with an intense loyalty and genuine warmth, a role model to those who knew her. She used the difficulties in her life to come alongside and lift others up enduring the same struggles. She was adored by her husband, cherished by her children, and loved by her friends and family.

She is survived by her husband, George, her children, Amy Joy, Benjamin and his fiancée, Karen Huang, her sister, Peggy (Margaret) Marsden, and numerous, dearly loved nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, James and Ruth, and her brothers, James, and John.

A memorial service celebrating Kathy's life will be held at Swarthmore Presbyterian Church, 727 Harvard Ave, Swarthmore, PA 19081 on Saturday, December 2, at 11:00am with the family receiving line and reception to follow the service. Internment is private.
