Kathleen Isabelle Schoellkopf Shields, age 92, formerly of Havertown, Pennsylvania died peacefully at The Quadrangle on Tuesday January 7, 2025.

Kathy was a graduate of John Bartram High School, continuing her education at Temple University where she obtained a degree in Elementary Education. Upon graduation, Kathy began a long and rewarding career as a kindergarten and first grade teacher, first in the family's  home church in Springfield, PA, and later in the Ridley Township School District. Teaching children to read was one of her greatest joys as an early education teacher. Following her retirement and the death of her husband Jack in 1993 Kathy moved to Havertown, PA with her daughter Sherri.

Although Kathy was engaged in numerous organizations throughout her life,  her family was her pride and joy and came first.  She sang in numerous community choirs and was an active and enthusiastic member of the Sanctuary Choir at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church which was her church home for many years. She was an ordained elder in The Presbyterian Church USA  and a former Deacon.

Kathy was the daughter of the late William J.C. Schoellkopf and Jessie Schoellkopf; wife of the late John Harold Shields Jr.

Beloved mother of Sherri Jean Shields and John Harold Shields III. Adoring grandmother of Jessica Kathleen Shields.

Survivors:  Siblings William Schoellkopf Jr. and the late Betty Yatron and Jeanne Knoebel. Also survived by dear cousins Karl and Ellen Schoellkopf and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial  Service: 11:30 AM Saturday, January 18th in the chapel of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church , 625 Montgomery Avenue, Bryn Mawr, PA.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Sanctuary Choir of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church.
