Judith
Fluharty
d. Jun 29, 2021
Judith L. Fluharty passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 29 at Riddle Village in Media, PA. A lifetime resident of Delaware County, Judy was born and raised in Havertown but spent most of her life in Media.
Judy worked as a receptionist at the Delaware County Bar Association for 30 years and greeted everyone with a smile and kind words each day. Everywhere she went, Judy knew someone. On the rare occasions she didn't know someone, she always left with at least one new friend.
Diagnosed with MS when she was 42, Judy was stripped of many of the joys and pleasures of life that many of us take for granted. But she never complained. Instead, she focused on all that was good in her life and used her positivity to battle her disease head on. By all accounts she won. She believed that God had a plan and though she didn't always know what that plan was, she would embrace it and make the most of what she had. Her perspective on life, and its ups and downs, was a lesson in humility for everyone. She never took for granted even the smallest joys in life.
Judy would tell anyone who would listen that her greatest achievements were her children and grandchildren and she never missed an opportunity to tell people how lucky she was. The reality is that we were the lucky ones. Those who knew her and were loved by her never had to question her love, dedication, loyalty or sense of pride because she made it known regularly.
Judy is survived by her son, J. John Fluharty, her daughter, Jennifer Jamieson (Ian) and grandsons Jack, Owen and Charlie. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Catherine (Pat) Kelly, and friend and former husband James J. Fluharty.
Her absence in our lives will be felt for many years to come but we will strive to approach each new day as she would; with a smile, gratitude for the lives we have and a kind word for anyone who may need one.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Judy's memory to the National MS Society at PO Box 91891, Washington, DC 20090 or online at https://www.nationalmssociety.org/Donate
