Obituary

Joseph Paul Puchalski III was born October 11, 1959.

He arrived in this world in a hurry in the front seat of his father's car and fought hard to stay here at the very end of his life.

Joe suffered from a cruel disease called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, better known as PSP. It is a little -known neurological disease that very slowly takes away your ability to walk, talk and eventually eat. Because of this Joe spent the last year and a half of his life in a nursing home relying on the care of his Mom, two sisters and hospice.

He battled his disease without a single complaint and left this world peacefully on August 28. He is survived by his mother Carol (Charron) Puchalski and his sisters Patricia (and Joseph Rahi ) and Wendy (and Mark Chamberlain) and seven nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Joseph Puchalski II and his brother William Puchalski.

He ended his work career at Sherwin Williams and previously worked as a project manager at various businesses. He enjoyed being with family and friends especially his nieces and nephews. He grew up in Havertown and lived in Drexel Hill.

He graduated from Haverford High School and Drexel University.  Joe was an avid Penn State football fan and a World War 2 history buff.

There is scant research for treating or curing PSP.

The family would like others to remember Joe with a donation at PSP.org

Burial will be Wednesday September 3, 2025 Scraton, PA.
