Joseph A.
Conan
Jul 30, 1951 — Oct 7, 2022
Joseph A. Conan, age 71, passed away at home on October 7, 2022. Joe was the beloved husband of Debra (nee DeRose), son of Alfred J. and Patricia A. Conan (nee Fillery). He was raised in Lansdowne, one of 7 siblings. Joe was the Vice President of Delmont Utilities, Inc., Delaware Valley Milling, Inc. and Delmont Realty, Inc. in Newtown Square.
He married Debra in 1973 and they ultimately settled in Edgmont Township to raise their family. They were blessed with three children, Tamara E., Lindsey J. (Douglas Dryer), and Garrett J., and six beautiful grandchildren, Rachel, Abigail, Naomi, James, Alexander, and Joshua.
Joe served in the Army Reserve during his younger years and his love of country was always evident throughout his life. He never hesitated to volunteer his time and energy to better his community, his children's schools and his parish, St. Mary Magdalen. He proudly served eighteen years as the Vice-Chairman of the Edgmont Township Board of Supervisors. He was an Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 430 in Media, later serving as a Troop Committee Member. Joe would often be heard fondly recalling his Boy Scout camping adventures, especially their trips to Philmont Boy Scout Ranch in New Mexico and Sea Base in the Florida Keys.
Joe loved the outdoors, scuba diving, and was an accomplished sporting clay enthusiast. He loved to travel to sporting clay competitions and hunt with his son and his dear friend, Neil Wasserstein.
In addition to his devoted wife, children and grandchildren, Joe is survived by his 5 siblings, Alfred (Eileen), Denise, Jeannette (Knox), Cynthia (Frank) and Steve (Lisa) as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Patricia ('Nancy').
Mass of Christian Burial will be held October 14th at 11 AM at St. Mary Magdalen Parish, 2400 N. Providence Road, Media. Friends and family may visit at the church from 9:30-10:45. Burial to follow at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Joe would have loved donations to the 'St. Mary Magdalen School Fund,' 2400 N. Providence Road, Media, PA 19063.
