John P. Schad, age 83, a longtime resident of Media, died peacefully at home on December 17, 2020.  He was surrounded by his loving family.  He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  A man of little words, John was fun, lovable and respected by all.

Born and raised in Chester, PA, John graduated from Chester High School before attending Trade School. He joined the Local 420 and enjoyed a 65 year-career with the Steamfitters' union.  Always involved with his community, John was an active member of St. Mary Magdalen Church and president of the Woodlyn Firehouse.

He enjoyed construction projects, horseback riding and loved hunting and camping. He was the biggest fan at his family's sporting events and his ultimate passion was spending time with his family.

John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Helen Schad; children Jeanne Fitzgerald (Gordon) of Newbury Park, CA, Julie Jamgochian (Gregory) of Newtown Sq., PA, and JoAnn Pieretti of Chadds Ford, PA; grandchildren Kristen, Justin, Brandon, Grant, Julian, Phillip, Nicole & Taylor; and siblings Kathleen Beardsley, Jerry Schad, and Maryann Adams.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, December 23rd at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 2400 N. Providence Rd. Media, PA, 19063.  Visitation will be from 10-11 am.  Mass will begin at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Mary Magdalen would be appreciated.
