John Gabriel Scala, 66, of Aston, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 28, 2021 after a short illness.  He was born in Sioux City, Iowa, to the late John W. and Bette Rickert Scala.  When he was one his parents relocated to "Everybody's Hometown" of Media, where John grew up. He attended Rose Tree Elementary School and was a graduate of Penncrest High School, Class of 1973. He enjoyed sports and played basketball for the Media Boys Club and football for Penncrest and the Rose Tree Colts.

After high school, John became an ASE certified mechanic and followed in his father's footsteps by joining the family business, Media Quarry Co. Inc. After working his way up, he subsequently became part owner of the company.  John remained active in his hometown sports community and coached for the Rose Tree Colts for 14 years. He was also a member of the Media Old Timers.

His love of sports remained with him throughout this life and he was a big fan of the University of Oklahoma and the Philadelphia Eagles.  John was a Harley Davidson enthusiast, who had a strong passion for rock music and played the drums. He enjoyed spending time at the family summer home in Ocean City, NJ with family and friends.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, John is survived by his caring wife Lisa Monzo Scala of Aston, his devoted daughter Lindsay Scala, of Media, and two beloved grandchildren Madelyn Bitondo and Isabelle Scala, also of Media; his siblings: Jean Bourquin of Aston, Jim Scala of Glen Mills, and Joan Scala McGonigle (Jeff) of Springfield; nieces and nephew:  Jen Walsh, Brian Bourquin and Jamie Ann McGonigle.  He was predeceased by his beloved daughter Jacquelyn Ann Scala.

Friends and family are invited to John's Memorial Service on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Rigby Harting and Hagan Funeral Home 15 East Fourth Street Media, PA 19063.  Visitation at 10:00am and Memorial Service at 11:00am.
