Obituary

John (Jack) Robins, a beloved father, husband, grandfather, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion to family. Born in South Philadelphia to John and Cecilia, he was a vibrant presence in the neighborhood and Mt. Carmel parish, sharing a special bond with his younger brother, Bill, who remained his best friend until Bill's passing in 2020. Jack's early years were filled with adventures among the houses of his aunts and uncles, where he, his brother, and his cousins formed the playful "Magnificent Seven": Bob and Marty Schaffer, Joe Shaw, and Jay and Bob Harris. This tight-knit group shared a unique bond that lasted throughout their lives.

A proud graduate of South Philadelphia Catholic High School, Jack served his country as an Air Force mechanic during the Korean War. After returning home, he dedicated himself to a long career as a senior accountant and IT specialist at PECO Energy, where he played a key role in founding the white-collar union and advocated for the rights of his fellow workers. Jack was an ardent Phillies fan, often engaging anyone willing to talk baseball. He described his 90th birthday spent at the ballpark with his family as "one of the best days of his life."  His passion for the game was matched only by his love for his family.

He met Barbara Noone at PECO in 1958, where she worked as an executive assistant. After she accused Jack of stealing a peach off her desk, the two began dating and were inseparable for the next 47 years. They married in 1959, and together they had five children: John (Marielyn), Helen Lynch (Hugh), Dolores Henry (Mike), William, and Joseph. He loved being their Dad and took that role seriously. The way in which his family shows up for one another is a direct reflection of the values he and Barbara instilled in their children. He cherished every moment spent with his children and their spouses, his grandchildren and their spouses, and his great-grandchildren, celebrating family gatherings and creating lasting memories.

After Barbara's passing, Jack found love again with Ninamaria Zia. He treasured their time together as well as with his stepdaughter, Chris, and her husband, Freddie.

A devout Catholic, Jack wore his faith proudly. He was committed to following in Christ's footsteps. He taught his children to care for those who are less fortunate and struggling. He was a student of theology and a trusted spiritual advisor for many.

Jack is survived by his wife, Nina, his children, stepdaughter, grandchildren—Michael (Kate), Devin (Will), Dan (Jordan), Aedan (Nick), Brian, Jack, Samantha (Tyler), Rowan, Jake, and Joe—and his great-grandchildren, Danny and Jack. He was welcomed into heaven by his beloved wife Barbara, brother Bill, parents John and Cecilia, cousins Bob, Marty, and Joe, great-grandchild Blair, and many others who loved him.

The family will hold a service to celebrate John's life on December 22, 2025 at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Media, PA. A viewing will be held at 9:30 AM with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11:00. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA.
