John
Hamilton
d. Jun 7, 2026
John Francis Hamilton, age 83, passed away on June 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He lived a life marked by devotion to his family, service to his country, and loyalty to his friends.
John was the beloved husband of Constance Hamilton with whom he shared 56 years of marriage, three wonderful sons, his daughters-in-law, and loving grandchildren.
He was a lifetime resident of Philadelphia before moving to Lansdale in 2020. Born to the late Mary (nee McNichol) and Robert Hamilton, John spent his formative years in West Philadelphia where he attended Most Blessed Sacrament and St. Francis de Sales. He graduated from West Catholic Boys High School in 1961 and served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966, receiving an honorable discharge with the rank of Sergeant (E-5). After his military service, John dedicated 33 years of service as a firefighter with the Philadelphia Fire Department.
John was the ultimate Philly sports fan and loved to play baseball and softball growing up. As he got older, he enjoyed coaching and teaching his three sons throughout their own athletic journeys. John’s sense of service was central to his life. In addition to serving in the military and as a firefighter, he was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus for most of his adult life.
John is survived by his wife Constance; his son Stephen and daughter-in-law Cheryl of Newtown Square, PA; his son David and daughter-in-law Michelle, along with their children Samuel and Anna of Haddon Heights, NJ; and his son Michael, daughter-in-law Melissa, and their children Aubrey and Aiden of Conshohocken, PA.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, June 22, at the Derstine Chapel at Dock Woods, 275 Dock Drive, Lansdale, PA 19446. There will be a visitation at 10:30 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m.
