John H. Carroll, 84, born November 3, 1936 in Media, PA, where he lived for the last 42 years, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on July 23, 2021. John raised his two devoted children in Chester and Aston, PA. He attended St. Roberts Grade School in Chester and St. James High School. John was a graduate of RETS electronics school. He joined the United States Army in 1956 and served in Germany and England. While stationed in the UK, he met his devoted wife of 64 years, Barbara M. (Platt) Carroll from Wiltshire England, who survives him. In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children, Esther (John) Fetsko of Middletown, PA and Michael J. Carroll of Media; his four grandchildren, John D. Fetsko III of Upper Providence, PA; Jenna (Nicholas) McAndrew of East Goshen, PA; Julia (Matt McGurk) Fetsko of Ridley Park, PA; Jordan (Jordan Lolar) Fetsko of West Chester, PA; and one great-granddaughter, Mia Rose McAndrew. John Howard Carroll was the son of John Joseph Carroll and Margaret E. (Baker) Carroll of Media. He was brother to Charles Lewis Carroll, deceased, of Lewis, DE, and is survived by Catherine (John) Greene and Sharon Fries, both of Auburndale, FL, and many cousins, nephews, nieces, friends and family members.
John H. Carroll served in the Army in the 101st Artillery, "The Screaming Eagles". He was an Eagles football fan, member of the American Legion and a true patriot for the country. He liked painting and history, science, technology and politics. John retired from the Boeing Vertol Company in Ridley Park, PA and was a skilled radio and television technician, and owned and operated J.C.'s TV Repair.
Funeral Services will be held at Nativity BVM Catholic Church, Media, PA, on Saturday morning, July 31, 2021. You may show your respect or affection by calling at the church between 9:30-10:30 AM.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Following the church ceremony, the burial will be at the Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
