Obituary

John Michael Andre, III (May 19, 1955 - July 9, 2025)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Michael Andre III, age 70, son of the late John M. Andre, Jr. and Florence Andre (née Banasek). John entered eternal rest at Lehigh Valley Hospice on July 9, 2025.

John was a constant presence in the lives of his close family, who lovingly and selflessly cared for him in his later years. Their dedication and support allowed John to live out his days with the grace and dignity he deserved.

At the time of his passing, John was surrounded by his loving and devoted wife of 28 years, Tracey (née Stone), his youngest surviving son (and home caregiver) Tyler Andre, of Kintnersville, PA and "bonus" stepdaughter, Tiffany Peoples, of Waverly, PA.

He is also survived by his eldest son, Ryan Andre (wife Kimberly née Arnold) of Langhorne, PA and his middle daughter, Kristen Scancella (née Andre) (husband Vincent) of Bristol, PA, both from his first marriage.

John "Pop-Pop" is survived by six grandchildren: Gianni, Alanna, Riley, Adalynn, Liam and Teagan.  Another surprise John was patiently awaiting was the birth of his seventh grandchild, Beckham, a grandson who is expected in late August and will inherit the name "John" as his middle name. His son, Tyler, chose this name as it holds sentimental value and is considered a common tradition in some families to give a child their grandfather's name as a middle name to honor and connect the child to their family history.  Our whole family felt this was the greatest way to pay tribute to our beloved John…husband, father and grandfather. We're still praying that Beckham inherits John's striking blue eyes as well.

John was born in Camden, NJ and grew up in Langhorne, PA where he attended Pennsbury School District. He enjoyed wrestling in high school, hanging at Big C, bowling and learning karate. As the youngest child, he was especially fond of his older siblings: brother, Arthur Andre, of Cape May, NJ and sister, Mynette Gregory (née Andre) of Richlandtown, PA.

Throughout the years, John especially enjoyed the hobbies of golf, fishing, boating, hunting, playing pool, darts, traveling, and even found an unexpected love for attending soccer games (to watch and support his son, Tyler). He also enjoyed playing solitaire on his cell phone as he sat on his favorite recliner in the conservatory. From that room, he had a perfect view of the pond and could watch the sun rise each morning.

In addition, John liked listening to Motown and oldies music. He loved Dean Martin and would play his songs as dinner was prepared. During warm weather days he would sit out on the back deck until dusk listening to songs such as Sting's, "Fields of Gold" and Enigma's, "Return to Innocence" with Tracey and Tiffany.  He also liked taking short road trips to Hot Dog Johnny's in NJ, which was a staple from his own childhood.

During his career, he worked at US Steel Corporation - Fairless Hills plant, Meenan Oil, and was an Owner or Manager of several family owned asphalt paving & hardscape design companies. John had a deep resonating voice that could liven up any room.  His presence was evident, and he was a natural and gifted salesman who was respected by many.

A lot of people who saw John said that he reminded them of the 80s actor, Nick Nolte. He always got a kick out of that comparison. John was kind, funny, and would give you the shirt off his back. He was a thoughtful and caring man who was at times stubborn or short tempered but quick to apologize. He always wanted and expected the best for himself and his family. He taught his close family that you do not need a lot to be happy but to appreciate all that you have; and that life is precious and there are no guarantees as we are not promised tomorrow. His daily actions and interactions shaped the legacy he leaves behind today; his values, memories, experiences, character, words, and the way he treated others will never be forgotten. John will certainly be missed by all who loved him, unconditionally.

"Legacy is not leaving something for people. It's leaving something in people."

– Peter Strople

A private Celebration of Life at Sea will be held for close family in September.
