Obituary

John Joseph Agneta Jr (89) of Media, PA died peacefully on 6/29/23.  He was born on 10/31/33 to John and Anna Agneta and was the youngest of five children (Julia, Nicholas, Angelica, Alvina). John grew up in Northeast Philadelphia and attended Northeast Catholic School for Boys. His family later moved to Drexel Hill and John went on to attend Lasalle College (University), earning a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.  His career was spent in his family's leather and shoe findings business located in South Philadelphia and he enjoyed working in that industry well into his late seventies.

John enjoyed summers at the NJ shore surrounded by family and friends. It was there he met his wife Claudette Stewart while working as a lifeguard.  The two married in 1955 and were blessed with two children.  John was a loving husband to Claudette (deceased),  his children Stewart and Kristen, daughter in law Rose (deceased), son in law Andy, and grandchildren, Nick (wife Erica), Gina, Evan and Brooke.

John was very handy and had a passion for restoring antique clocks and cash registers and collecting toy banks and coins. He liked to keep busy and could often be found working in his garden, or solving a crossword puzzle.  Vacations were spent at beaches with his wife and family.  When John moved to his retirement community, he became an avid Bocce player.  He was a team captain and had fun competing with the other residents, as well as teams from outside communities.  After his wife passed, John enjoyed Sunday morning breakfasts and road trips with his gentlemen friends from Riddle Village.   John's family and friends will remember him as a quiet, unpretentious and gentle man.

Family and friends are invited to attend a gathering to celebrate John's life on  July 26 at 5 pm at the Creekside Community Clubhouse,  6170 Creekside Drive, Flourtown, PA.

Those who wish to express sympathy may make a donation in John's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
