Spencer, Joan M (83) of Glenolden, was lifted to Heaven by God's Angels on September 27, 2020.

Born in Philadelphia Joan was the loving the daughter of the late George and Grace (nee Callahan) Spencer.

Joan attended St. Gregory's School, and Mercy Tech in West Philadelphia. Joan enjoyed working many years and held positions at Horn and Hardart, Curtis Publishing and General Electric. In October of 1980 she received her Cosmetologist license and worked at the Mary Murray Salon in Drexel Hill. Joan left her position as a hairdresser and devoted herself to taking loving care of her mother until her death in 1996.

Joan was a warm and loving person with a wicked sense of humor. She had a way of making everyone in her presence enjoy a good time. She loved Christmas and entertaining at the holidays. Joan enjoyed watching the old movies and was especially fond of Bette Davis movies. She was a lover of cats and cared deeply for her fur babies Surprise, July and Arnie as well as a stray or two who crossed her path over the years.

Joan is survived by her loving sister Anna (Spencer) Arters, Brother Raymond (Carole) and Sister-in-law Maryanne Spencer, many loving nephews and nieces, great-nieces and nephews, and her best friend since 2nd grade Delores Ranelli.

She was predeceased by her Brothers: Robert, Walter (Claire) , George (Joyce) and Howard. Her Sisters: Edna Depew and Marion Mortimer and Brothers-in-Law: Donald Depew, John Mortimer and William Arters.

Friends and relatives are invited to her visitation 10:00 am to 11:00 am Thursday, October 1st at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 2400 N Providence Rd, Media, PA 19063, followed by Funeral Mass at 11:00 am.  Please wear masks.  Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
