Jennifer
Ziegler
d. Feb 23, 2026
Jennifer Lynn (Ritins) Ziegler, 59, of Media, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026 after a brief battle with Ovarian Cancer. Born a New Year's baby on January 1st, 1967, to Barbara and Ilmars Ritins in Aldan, Pennsylvania. Jen lived a life dedicated to her family, swimming, special education and selflessness above all.
She grew up in Bethel Township, PA and attended Garnet Valley High School. Her early years through college were defined by her passion and excellence as a swimmer. Jennifer was a distinguished collegiate All-American swimmer for University of Georgia. She was an SEC Champion, NCAA Champion and a qualifier for the 1988 U.S. Olympic Trials. Most recently, Jen was inducted to the Delco Athletes Hall of Fame. Jennifer leaves a legacy of excellence and love for the sport.
Jen made a career of children's special education and behavioral health, devoting many years to Elwyn, Inc.
She was married to the love her life, Jim Ziegler for 30 years. Together they raised two beautiful sons, Jimmy and John. Of all her accomplishments, she was most proud of raising such wonderful boys; they were the light of her life.
Outside of the pool, Jennifer loved her swims in the ocean and the lake, gardening, music, cooking, UGA Athletics, Philadelphia Eagles and home improvements. She especially loved spending time with her family. Jen had an infectious laugh, love for life and everyone around her.
Jen is predeceased by her father, Ilmars Ritins. She is survived by her loving, devoted husband, Jim Ziegler and her two sons, Jimmy and John Ziegler; her mother, Barbara (Meicht) Ritins, brother, Jeff Ritins and sister, Jane (Ritins) Porter (Bruce) and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jennifer's Celebration of Life shall be held in the near future.
