Obituary

JEANNE CAROL EDWARDS nee GAMBRILL, March 1, 1935 – April 8, 2024, died peacefully with family close by.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her first husband Landis (Pete) Walker, her second husband Raymond Edwards, brothers Harry, Harvey and Paul Gambrill, sister Nancy Ricks, parents Harry (Brooks) and Geneva Stull Gambrill.

Jeanne is survived by brothers Charles (Linda) and David (Kathy) Gambrill, sister Mary Kirkner and sister-in-law Paula Gambrill, children Carol (Robert) Gannon, Marilyn (James) Ryan, Cheryl (Duncan) Smith, grandchildren Kelly-Jeanne (Will Cash) Lee, Eli (Chrystal) Griffith, Corrie (Johnny Parsons) Ryan, Brooke (Jordan Couture) Ryan, Duncan, Jr (Jonell) Smith and Tyler (Cynthia) Smith, great grandchildren Mason, Geneva, Aaliyah and Hudson.

Jeanne graduated from Ridley Township High School in 1953 where she played French horn making first chair of her section and participating in district band. She was selected by a committee of band directors to participate in the State High School Band. After graduation she worked as a bank teller for Morton National Bank which later became PNC Bank. She also worked as a seamstress for Sylvia's Bridal Salon, in Holmes, PA.

Jeanne was very active in the Methodist church wherever she lived singing in the choir, filling in for the organist or working in the office. She was the children's choir director at Clifton Heights United Methodist church for many years.

She was a Girl Scout leader for several years sharing her skills and talents with many including directing the Cadette Chorus for a Girl Scout anniversary celebration.

For over forty years, Jeanne was an avid bowler and participated in WNBA national tournaments 25 years in a row, traveled all over Pennsylvania for state tournaments and won several awards. She also served as secretary for the bowling league for several years.

After moving to Maryland full-time in 1997, Jeanne became a charter member of the Chester River Chorale and served for many years as the music librarian until retiring to Florida in 2018.

Jeanne was an enthusiastic crafter always sewing, knitting, crocheting, or cross-stitching. Many friends and family members have received hand-made Afghans for wedding gifts and babies were gifted beautiful baby blankets.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Rigby, Harting and Hagan Funeral Home, 15 E. 4th Street, Media, PA on Thursday, May 16, 2024. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m.

A private interment will be held separately.
