Janet Kennedy Murdock 1924-2023

Janet Kennedy Murdock, died at home with her family by her side. Janet was born in Brooklyn, NY and attended Froebel Academy. She spent a formative year in the Arizona desert in 1937, and attended Connecticut College, graduating in 1946.

In 1947, Janet married Arizonan John Murdock, who had just returned from the war. They moved to Lansdowne and joined her mother in the family home. Janet helped John with his business, the Perlite Corporation, and the couple raised three children together. Janet taught Spanish in schools and community college and read with a book club for 50 years.

In 2001, Janet and John moved into a sunny apartment in Strath Haven Condominium in Swarthmore. She loved that community, and got involved by serving on the board, leading the Outdoor Committee for many years, and caring for flower beds around the buildings. Janet watched the parade of college students, dog walkers, and neighbors out her windows, and had friends for coffee in her two round chairs or out on the balcony. When her time came, Janet was ready. She said she was thankful for all those she loved and who loved her.

Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, John Murdock.  She leaves grateful family and friends including children, Jean Warrington of Philadelphia,PA, Nancy Murdock of Brooklin, ME, and James Murdock of Wayne, PA , nine grandchildren, and her brother, Donald Kennedy of Downingtown.
