Janet G. Hood, loving mother and grandmother, died peacefully on April 25, 2026 at the age of 98.

Born to the late Edna (nee Alexander) and Samuel Ellis Jones, Janet spent her formative years in Philadelphia.  She graduated from West Philadelphia High School before marrying the love of her life, Richard W. Hood.

Family was everything to Janet. She worked tirelessly to create a loving home for Richard and their two daughters, Beverly and Carol.  For many years, the family lived in Aldan where Janet was active as a Girl Scout Leader and a Sunday School Teacher at First Lutheran Collingdale.  Janet and Richard moved to Media nearly thirty years ago where Janet was blessed to live very close to family.

Janet loved to travel and enjoyed many wonderful trips with Richard. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, puzzles and embroidery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, in 2005 and her son-in-law, Matthew Nolan. She is survived by daughters, Beverly Lehman (Matthew) of Franklin, PA and Carol Nolan of Media, PA. She is also survived by her four beloved grandchildren Jamie Contipodero, Erin Young, Paul Lehman, and Anna Regalski, as well as her sister, Marjorie Krog of Media, PA.

Friends and family are invited to Janet's funeral service on Monday, May 4th at Rigby Harting & Hagan Funeral Home, 15 E. Fourth Street. Media, PA.  There will be a visitation from 9:30 am – 10:30 am, service at 10:30 am and burial to follow at Philadelphia Memorial Park.
